| Movie Review: Where the Money Is
Story: Capers are fun and no one can pull them off
better than Paul Newman. It is also a treat to see some real chemistry
between actors for a change. This is such an important consideration
in a film and too often overlooked. The story is simply about an aging
jailed bank robber who fakes a coma, ends up in a nursing home under
the care of a bored nurse, who senses the possibility that something
different could happen to her and her predictable life by just knowing
this guy. Hence the caper begins and we are entertained with a fast-paced
(one of my favorite movie qualities), well edited (oh so important)
film. Go, have some fun.
Acting: Paul Newman is magnificent. He is from the
less is more school of acting and his performance is familiar and
appealing. We know him so well and enjoy seeing him do what he does
to perfection. He is one very classy guy. Linda Fiorentino
is undercast, and should appear in as many films as Julianne Moore does.
She is a large presence on screen, sexy, smart and fun to watch. Dermot
Mulroney does what he has to do but he can't hold a candle
to his 2 costars.
Visual Art: None
Soundtrack: Fitting (a lot of songs by The Cars)
Quirky Meter: 2
Oscar Worthy: No
Length: 90 minutes (my favorite length)
LOBO HOWLS: 7
