| Movie Review: Ocean's Thirteen Alternate Title: Boys With Toys
Story: Oh those aging rascals
are at it again. Director Steven Soderbergh, who knows
his cast of hunky actors well, delivers a slick, predictable, Ocean's
formulaic, easy on the eye, summer indulgence of a film. The caper this time out involves a nasty Las
Vegas hotel megalomaniac who has wronged one of the Thirteen. The wrong
must be righted. The guilty must be punished (sans violence). With intricate
detail, we follow the challenges, the good humor, the winks and dazzling
smiles. Just sit back and enjoy the fun. Two hours later we have all
laughed, looked at our watches a few times and chalked it up to summer
cinema fun. I have seen the other two Ocean films and was
familiar with the premise. My movie buddy was new to the franchise and
enjoyed it much more than I did. That said, if you like this band of
eye candy (I do), like heist/caper films (I do), sometimes want a film
that simply entertains (I do) than check out this third part of the
franchise. Acting: The boys and back and continue to look good.
George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Al Pacino, Andy Garcia,
Elliott Gould, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, Carl Reiner, Eddie Izzard, Casey
Affleck, Scott Caan, Eddie Jemison, Shaobo Qin. Lucky
Ellen Barkin represented the x chromosome. Predilection: I like to look at handsome men.
Critters: 0
Food: Food was represented by the Hotel's food critic
but I do not recall anyone actually eating this time out.
Blatant Product Placement: Oprah
Soundtrack: Light and pleasant
Opening Titles: Don't remember
Visual Art: The hoteliers have wonderful collections
including a beautiful Klimt.
Theater Audience: A handful of Tuesday afternoon
goof offs.
Weather: It is always sunny and pleasant when the
hunky Thirteen are in town.
Sappy Factor: 0
